Set Up and Download Data to an Account Using Quicken® for Windows Software

  • Launch Quicken® software.
  • In the top menu bar, File drop down; select “New Quicken File”, Select “New Quicken Account” radio button; select OK.
  • For account type, select “Brokerage” under the “Investing & Retirement” section;
  • Type and select Robert W. Baird & Co.; click Next.
  • Type your Baird Online User ID and password; click Connect.
  • Cash balance may need to be entered manually (NOTE: The cash balance is available on Baird Online under the Account Information tab. The cash balance on Baird Online is adjusted in real time while transactions and security positions are delayed one day on Quicken®.)
  • Quicken may ask additional questions such as the account type or owner, and if the account is a mutual fund. Select the answers and then click Next.
  • Verify the account(s) added, and then click Finish.

These instructions are provided by Baird to assist you in downloading data into Quicken® for Mac® software. As with most software products, there may be other steps or shortcuts available to accomplish the same result.

Set Up and Download Data to an Account Using Quicken® for Mac® Software

  • Launch Quicken® for Mac® software.
  • In the top menu bar, click Accounts; click New.
  • For account type, select Investing; Brokerage;
  • Type and select Robert W. Baird & Co.; click Continue.
  • Type your Baird Online User ID and password; click Continue.
  • Confirm the Account(s) Added; click Continue.
  • Beginning balance may need to be entered manually (NOTE: The cash balance is available on Baird Online under the Account Information tab. The cash balance on Baird Online is adjusted in real time while transactions and security positions are delayed one day on Quicken®.)

  • What is Quicken® software?

    Quicken® software, from a third-party vendor, assists in tracking your personal finances. Through Baird, you can now download your investment information to easily track your investments in Quicken. 

  • What if I don't have Quicken® software?

    You can purchase Quicken® products by calling Intuit at 800-811-8766. You can also find Quicken® products in computer and general retail stores. More information on Quicken® products can be found on Intuit's website at www.intuit.com.  Find out more about Quicken System requirements.

  • Who can download their information into Quicken® software?

    Baird Online users can download their information into Quicken®. To learn more about Baird Online,  check out the website or contact your Baird Financial Advisor.

  • How much does the Quicken® download service cost?

    Downloading information into the Quicken® program from Baird is free to all Baird Online users.

  • What type of investments and investment information can I download?

    Securities that you hold at Baird or that are networked with Baird can be downloaded into Quicken® software, as well as banking and investment transactions that have occurred in your account.

  • Are non-networked assets provided in the Quicken® download?

    Only assets that are held at Baird or networked with Baird will be displayed in the download. Securities that are not networked will not be displayed.

  • Are networked assets (level 4 mutual funds and networked annuities) provided in the Quicken® download?

    Both types of assets will appear in the Holdings section of the Summary tab along with the other assets in the account.

  • Do I need to be on Baird's Web site to download the information?

    No. You need to have an Internet connection, Quicken® software and be a Baird Online user to access the information. Once in the Quicken® program, you will be able to select Robert W. Baird & Co. as your financial institution.

  • Who do I contact if I have trouble downloading the information?

    For technical questions about Quicken® software installation and functionality, you can contact the Intuit automated product support website at Intuit® Support. There you can access product information, live chat support, a community forum or email support. You can also call their free support number at 800-811-8766 with questions concerning purchasing information. For a fee, you can contact Intuit technical support at 800-811-8766 with questions concerning data corruption or backing up Quicken data files.

  • Can I download my account information with Quicken® for the Mac software?

    Yes. Baird supports Quicken for Mac.

  • What if I do not see Robert W. Baird & Co. in my Financial Institution list within the Quicken® program?

    You must update Quicken to get the latest information:

    • Select the Online menu and select One Step Update.
    • Clear all items in the One Step Update dialog, and then click Update Now.
    • When the update completes, restart Quicken.
    • Create or activate your account.
  • My online set-up prompts me to enter the current day's balance. Do I get this information from Baird Online?

    Since the data available for download into Quicken is delayed by one day, it is okay to use the balance on Baird Online provided you make the proper adjustment for any activity (trades, journals, checks written or deposits) made intraday. Baird Online is a real-time website and its values are adjusted intraday. The transactions that occur today will not be available for download into Quicken until tomorrow.

  • What if I misplaced or forgot my password?

    Your password is the same as your Baird Online password. If you forgot your password, you can have your password reset by visiting https://bol.rwbaird.com/ForgotPassword.

  • What if I want to change my Quicken® PIN (Personal Identification Number)?

    The Quicken PIN is the same as your Baird Online (BOL) password. You must change your BOL password from the Baird Online Login screen. The Baird Online password update is real-time for the Quicken download application.

  • What type of security do you employ?

  • Does the Quicken® software have my account information?

    No. The Quicken program does not have your account information. All of your account information for the Quicken download is located and stored at Baird. Baird is using an industry standard Open Financial Exchange (OFX) server to provide the data to our clients over a secured Internet connection. Your Quicken download Send/Update request comes to Baird for a completed data response.

  • What happens if the Quicken® information is different from the information in my client statement?

    The Robert W. Baird & Co. client statement is the official record of account transactions, positions and balances. The information you download is for tracking purposes only and should not be considered an official record.

    There are existing issues with Quicken for Mac regarding option valuations and transactions. This is an issue that cannot be resolved by Baird.

    Additionally, multiple securities with the same name in an account may show up as unidentified securities and manual corrections may be needed.

    If there are any account discrepancies with the statements compared to the Quicken download data, you may report them to Baird's Online Support at 888-212-8843. Since Quicken is a third-party software application, there are limitations to the support Baird can offer in the download process.

  • How often is the information updated?

    nvestment information is processed every night. The download file is updated after nightly processing, during which time you will not be able to download transactions into the Quicken software and will need to try back later. The transactions that occur today in your account can be downloaded tomorrow.

  • How much information can be downloaded?

    The system will provide three complete months of transactions, plus the current month's activity. If your Baird Online User ID has been in existence for less than three previous months and the current month, only your transactions since the day your User ID was activated will be available for your first-time download.

  • Can I trade my accounts using Quicken® software?

    No. Quicken can only be used for tracking transactions and holdings.

  • What is OFX?

    OFX (Open Financial Exchange) is a unified specification for the exchange of electronic financial data over the Internet. OFX specification streamlines the process financial services companies must go through to connect to transactional websites, personal computers and personal financial management software.   • Does Baird support electronic bill payment in Quicken® software?

    No. Baird does not support electronic bill payments in Quicken. However, Baird clients with the Cash Management package of services are able to add e-Bill Management to those services for a small monthly fee. Please contact your Baird Financial Advisor for more information.

  • Can I use my Quicken® software for 1099 tax statements?

    No. The Quicken download is primarily for tracking transactions and holdings. Baird does not recommend or support using the Quicken downloaded data for income tax purposes.

    Baird supports the TurboTax 1099 import process. The data we use for the TurboTax import process comes from the same data used for the 1099 statements mailed to our clients. You can find out more on the TurboTax® page.

  • Can I access my account data in Quicken on my phone or tablet?

    Yes, Quicken offers a mobile app to users of the desktop application. Further information can be found about the Quicken mobile app on the Quicken website
