James Gray and Daniel Bates to help deepen Baird’s ability to serve fixed income clients in London

LONDON, February 13, 2023 – Baird, an employee-owned, international financial services firm, announced today that James Gray and Daniel Bates have joined the firm’s Fixed Income Capital Markets business to focus on Collateralized Loan Obligations and structured products. Gray and Bates are based in London.

Baird sells and trades a full range of fixed income securities for institutional investors and has strategically grown the fixed income business through the United States and abroad to better serve the needs of clients and institutional investors. The addition of Bates and Gray is the latest development in the continued growth of Baird’s London operations, which were established in 1999 and include investment banking, institutional equities and private equity expertise.

Biographies

James Gray, Managing Director, European Fixed Income Sales
Gray brings more than 10 years of experience in Sales & Trading to the firm. Prior to Baird, Gray ran the Euro CLO and Securitized Products syndication function for J.P. Morgan and prior to that Deutsche Bank. Shortly after leaving J.P. Morgan, he was responsible for successfully rebuilding the public side client franchise across the continent for Credit Suisse and was tasked with rebuilding the European Securitized Products Salesforce. Gray received his Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Cambridge and is an accredited career coach.

Daniel Bates, Director, European Fixed Income Trader
Bates brings 8 years of experience in Investment Banking and Trading to the firm. Prior to joining Baird, Bates was a CLO trader at Credit Suisse, where he helped develop the European CLO trading business into a top three counterparty in terms of wallet share. Before this he served as Junior Portfolio Manager at both WyeTree Asset Management and Spire Partners, where he managed investments into European CLOs as well as US and European ABS. Bates received his Masters in Physics from Imperial College London.
