In a recent interview with The Wall Street Journal, Baird Managing Director and Investment Banker Mike Lindemann shared his perspective on how private equity firms are increasingly using combo deals to generate stronger returns amidst riding valuations and a shortage of assets. Lindemann explains:

“While firms have occasionally pursued this combination strategy, investors—particularly larger-cap sponsors—increasingly are thinking about the benefits of doing such combination deals,” said Lindemann. “Valuations have certainly gone up in the last couple of years. There’s a dearth of targets and investments for larger sponsors within their core size range.”
