Mutual Fund Investing
Before you invest in any fund, you should request a copy of the fund’s prospectus. The prospectus contains information on the fund’s objectives, risks and expenses. You should read, understand, and accept the terms of the prospectus before you invest.
Dollar Cost Averaging
The concept of dollar cost averaging involves continuous investment in securities or mutual funds regardless of fluctuating prices. The user should consider his/her financial ability to continue investing in periods of low price levels.
International Stock or Bond Funds or Global Funds
These funds invest in international securities that can involve different risks than U.S. investments. The risks include political and economic instability, changing currency exchange rates, foreign taxes, and differences in financial accounting standards.
Tax Free Funds
Investment in tax free bond funds may subject the investor to the federal Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT).
Sector Funds
Funds that invest in one sector of an industry involve additional risks. The lack of industry diversification subjects the investor to additional industry risks.
Variable Annuities
Variable Annuity contracts offer investment in professionally managed portfolios or sub-accounts. These accounts are not similar to mutual funds. Variable Annuities have fees and expenses, such as surrender charges and mortality expenses that are not found with mutual funds. These fees and expenses effect the investment account performance. Any guarantees expressed in an annuity contract are based on the claims paying ability of the issuing insurance company. Read the prospectus carefully as it contains detailed information regarding fees and expenses before investing in a variable annuity. Past performance is no guarantee of future results.
