Prior to joining Baird in 1987, John worked seven years for the City of Webster Groves, a suburb of St. Louis, Missouri. One year after his appointment to the position of Administrative Assistant to the City Manager, he was promoted to Assistant City Manager/Director of Finance. In this position, he was responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operation of a municipal finance department, including the preparation and monitoring of a multi-million-dollar budget. During his time in Webster Groves, John was a member of different professional associations, serving on various committees addressing the issues facing municipal governments. For two consecutive years, he was elected as Second Vice President of the St. Louis Chapter of the Government Finance Officers Association. In this capacity, he served on a committee of municipal and city leaders who were successful in streamlining and combining several municipal services, which were previously being duplicated by the different entities. John graduated with a Master of Arts in Urban Studies and a Bachelor of Arts from St. Louis University.
