About
Kao Corporation (“Kao”) (TSE: 4452) announced that, through its United States subsidiary, it completed the acquisition of Washing Systems, LLC (“WSI” or the “Company”), expanding its commercial laundry detergent solution business. Established in 1887, Kao is a global leader in consumer and chemical products with annual revenue in excess of $13 billion. Currently, Kao operates its professional-use cleaning and hygiene products business primarily in Japan, serving a variety of industries, including restaurants, food processing, hospitals and cleaning. This acquisition will accelerate the global expansion of Kao’s commercial products business. Kao is based in Tokyo, Japan. Serving primarily North American water-wash commercial laundry companies, WSI has achieved outstanding success by developing and marketing industry-leading detergents, providing integrated detergent supply systems and delivering industry-leading customer services. In addition, the Company has a proven track record in environmental efforts, becoming the first for-profit enterprise to receive the Platinum Award (the highest award) from the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency in 2017.
