About

Kurita Water Industries Ltd. (“Kurita”) (TSE: 6370) has acquired a majority stake in Fracta, Inc. (“Fracta”) for $37 million in cash. Fracta will operate as a consolidated subsidiary under Kurita. As part of the agreement, Kurita also agreed to acquire the remaining outstanding equity in Fracta by 2024.

Kurita is a global provider of water treatment solution products, technology and maintenance services. Kurita’s water treatment chemicals segment provides chemicals and equipment across a variety of industries. Solutions include boiler water treatment, cooling water treatment, wastewater treatment, and process treatment chemicals. Kurita’s water treatment facilities segment manufactures and sells treatment equipment such as ultrapure water production systems, waste reclamation systems, water treatment facilities and wastewater treatment systems. Kurita is based in Tokyo, Japan.

Fracta, Inc. is an emerging provider of predictive water main evaluation software. Through use of data analytics, artificial intelligence and machine learning, Fracta’s software allows customers to analyze the probability of infrastructure failure and optimize replacement plans, thus significantly reducing maintenance costs and capital investment. Fracta is based in Silicon Valley, California.
