Coating Excellence International (“CEI” or the “Company”), a former portfolio company of Mason Wells, was recently acquired by ProAmpac Intermediate Inc. (“ProAmpac”), a portfolio company of Wellspring Capital Management. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

CEI is a market leading flexible packaging and technical products company specializing in wide web extrusion coating and laminating of film, foil, paper, board and nonwovens. CEI features EB coating and laminating, wide web flexographic presses with 10-color printing with registered backside print capabilities, and offset printing up to four colors. The Company operates two facilities in Wisconsin with approximately 500 employees. CEI is based in Wrightstown, Wisconsin.

Mason Wells is a leading Midwest-based private equity firm that is currently investing through Mason Wells Buyout Fund III, a $525 million fund. Since Mason Wells was formed in 1998, its buyout funds have invested in four specific industry sectors: packaging materials & converting, outsourced business services, consumer packaged goods and engineered products & services. Mason Wells is headquartered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

ProAmpac, recently formed by Wellspring Capital Management through the recent merger of Prolamina Corporation and Ampac Packaging LLC, is a leading global flexible packaging company operating primarily under the Prolamina, Ampac and Tulsack brands.
