KEF Beteiligungs GmbH (“Karl Eugen Fischer” or the “Company”), a privately held company whose principal shareholders include Equita GmbH & Co. Holding KGaA (“EQUITA”) and Karl Eugen Fischer management, recently completed its sale to Equistone Partners Europe Limited (“Equistone”). Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.Karl Eugen Fischer is the global market leading manufacturer of steel and textile cord cutting machines for the tyre industry. The Company is a trusted supplier to almost all of the well-known tyre manufacturers worldwide, especially in emerging countries such as China. The Company is positioned as a technology leader, offering innovative tyre cord cutting technologies for a broad range of tyre applications. As well as its operations in the tyre industry, the Company also provides the metalworking industry with sheet metal processing machines. Karl Eugen Fischer is headquartered in Burgkunstadt, Germany, and has sales and service operations in the USA and China.
EQUITA is an independent private equity company. EQUITA, which emerged from the long-standing entrepreneurial tradition of the Harald Quandt family, generally acquires majority stakes in medium-sized companies in the German-speaking markets. With combined capital commitments of approximately €450 million and no fixed time frames, EQUITA is able to pursue long-term investments. EQUITA is headquartered in Bad Homburg, Germany.
Equistone is an independent investment firm owned and managed by the former executives of Barclays Private Equity. Through Equistone Partners Europe Fund IV, with total capital commitments of €1.5 billion, Equistone is one of Europe’s leading investors in mid-market buyouts.
