Sparex Holdings Limited and its subsidiaries (collectively referred to as “Sparex” or the “Company”), a portfolio company of Rubicon Partners Industries LLP (“Rubicon”), has been acquired by AGCO Corporation (NYSE: AGCO) (“AGCO”) for £53 million.Sparex is a leading independent, global distributor of generic agricultural accessories, tractor replacement and machinery implement parts serving the agricultural aftermarket. Headquartered in Exeter, UK, Sparex has operations in 17 countries and exports to over 75 countries. It serves a diverse customer base including OEM franchise dealers, independent dealers, distributors, mechanic and repair workshops, farm group stores and cooperatives.
AGCO, founded in 1990 and headquartered in Duluth, Georgia, USA, offers a full product line of tractors, combines, hay tools, sprayers, forage, tillage equipment, implements and related replacement parts. AGCO’s products are sold under the Challenger®, Fendt®, Massey Ferguson® and Valtra® brands and are distributed globally through more than 2,700 independent dealers and distributors in more than 140 countries. AGCO reported 2009 sales of c. $6.6 billion.
