Global Financial Services Firm Ranks No. 13; 17th Consecutive
Year on List
MILWAUKEE, Feb. 18, 2020 – Baird has been named to Fortune magazine’s 2020 list of the 100 Best Companies to Work For, ranking No. 13. This is the 17th consecutive year the employee-owned, international wealth management, asset management, investment banking/capital markets and private equity firm has been honored on the list, and the firm’s 12th year in the top 25.
The 100 Best list is an annual ranking of the top workplaces based on survey feedback representing more than 650,000 employees at Great Place to Work-CertifiedTM organizations across the country. Great Place to Work, a global people analytics and consulting firm, evaluated more than 60 elements of team members’ experience on the job. These included the extent to which employees trust leaders, the respect with which people are treated, the fairness of workplace decisions, and how much camaraderie there is among the team. Rankings are based on employees’ feedback and reward companies who best include all employees, no matter who they are or what they do for the organization.
"We are proud to be recognized by Fortune for our commitment to creating a workplace environment of trust, respect and teamwork where all of our associates can thrive," said Steve Booth, Baird President & CEO. "That commitment enables us to attract and retain talented professionals who are dedicated to doing business the way Baird has for more than 100 years – with honesty, integrity and by putting our clients first."
Here is the magazine’s description of Baird:
The employee-owned financial services firm holds fast to its "no a–holes" policy, asserting in its Associate Promise that "trust, respect, and teamwork" are at the core of everything Baird is and does. "I could call the CEO, and he would return my call," asserts one associate. When the company saved big on new 2018 tax laws, all employees were given a $1,500 bonus.
"Our longevity and success as a firm is due to our ongoing dedication to hiring great people who provide the best service and advice to our clients," said Paul Purcell, Chairman of Baird. "It’s an honor to know that for 17 years, this mission has been acknowledged and celebrated by Fortune and our peers, clients and associates."
By attracting and retaining top talent and through its balanced platform of five strategic businesses, Baird has achieved significant success year-over-year. In 2019, the firm celebrated its 100th anniversary. It also joined forces with Hilliard Lyons, a Louisville-based financial services firm that, like Baird, has emphasized a strong, client-centric culture and business model, a commitment to being a great place to work and a long history of giving back to the community. Baird revenues in 2019 were $2.06 billion, the tenth consecutive year of record results, and client assets entrusted to Baird exceeded $300 billion.
"The 100 Best show the way forward," said Michael C. Bush, CEO of Great Place to Work. "These companies have created Great Places to Work For All—for everyone, no matter who a person is or what they do for the organization. As a result, they have built a path to realize the promise of artificial intelligence, gain strength from a diversity of perspectives, and thrive during downturns."
