Matthew Swope is a Managing Director and High Yield Corporate Bond Analyst at Baird, where he provides in-depth research and strategic insights into the high-yield corporate bond market. He joined Baird in 2013 to serve as lead for analysis in the Technology, Media, and Telecom (TMT) sector, bringing a wealth of experience in credit research, portfolio management, and distressed debt investing.

Before joining Baird, Matthew was with Gleacher & Company, where he held the same leadership roles in Desk Analysis and TMT research. He joined Gleacher’s predecessor, Broadpoint, in 2009, with nearly a decade of expertise in the high-yield bond, leveraged loan, and distressed debt markets. Prior to Broadpoint, Matthew was a co-founder, research analyst, portfolio manager, and partner at Washington Corner Capital Management, a firm specializing in distressed and credit-based investments and before that, he spent six years at WR Huff Asset Management as a research analyst and portfolio manager.

Matthew holds a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics and Computer Science from Williams College and earned his MBA with a concentration in Finance from NYU’s Stern School of Business.
