Baird has a long-standing tradition of giving back to the communities in which our associates live and work, both on a corporate and individual level. Baird Foundation provides support to many charitable organizations, and many of our associates actively volunteer for a number of charitable causes, often in a leadership capacity.

In addition to Baird Foundation’s financial support, associates are extraordinarily generous in their support of community campaigns and causes. A prime example is the United Way campaign.

In 2010, Baird associate participation in United Way workplace campaigns topped 95% for the eighth straight year. Our employees in the metro Milwaukee area set a record by raising more than $1 million for nonprofit agencies in their communities. Participation was also very strong in Baird’s Chicago and Cincinnati offices. Additionally, associates in Milwaukee and Chicago participate in United Way’s annual effort to match local volunteers with nonprofit organizations in need of their help.

Many of our employees make personal contributions as well:

  • Baird associates across the firm and their family members donate their time and talents to help a wide variety of non-profit organizations throughout the year. In addition, many team up during Baird Gives Back Week, an event held annually in the spring, to help with projects such as preparing and serving food, tutoring students, working with seniors, building homes, and cleaning up parks.
  • Baird associates in Milwaukee and Chicago led a pair of holiday toy drives to provide gifts to children who were staying at the hospital or in need over the holiday season.

Baird also supports and recognizes the community involvement of its associates in various ways:

    • "Baird Cares” provides associates with an extra paid day off each year to volunteer in their communities.
    • Through the Charitable Gift Matching Program, Baird Foundation matches a portion of Baird associates’ nonprofit contributions.
    • Brenton H. Rupple Citizenship Award - Named for a former Baird chairman noted for his dedication to the community, the award is presented annually to a Baird associate who makes outstanding contributions to civic, charitable and academic organizations.
