Michael J. Schroeder, President: toggle
Michael J. Schroeder
Mike Schroeder is President of Baird Private Wealth Management. Since 2001, he has been responsible for all sales and operating activities of Baird’s Private Wealth Management network and oversees Financial Advisor Services, Private Asset Management, and other units supporting the efforts of Financial Advisors, who serve Baird’s individual, institutional and corporate clients.
Mike is a member of the Baird board of directors and the firm’s Executive, Human Capital, Credit, Investment Advisory, Operations, Product Management and Diversity Steering committees. Prior to being named a Regional Director of Private Wealth Management in 1995, Mike was a Portfolio Manager, serving both individual and institutional investors. He joined Baird in 1986 and started his career as a Financial Advisor.
Mike received a BBA in Finance, Investments and Banking from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and is a graduate of the Securities Industry Institute at The Wharton School of Business.
John Mabee, Vice Chairman: toggle
John Mabee is Vice Chairman for Baird’s Private Wealth Management business. In this role, he works closely with regional and branch leadership to recruit and retain the best advisors in the industry, as well as identify new growth opportunities for the business. He also focuses broadly on the needs of branch associates, understanding how the firm can best support our wealth management professionals in serving their clients.
Previously, John had been a Regional Director since 2000, a role in which he focused on building out Baird’s Eastern Region as well as establishing new offices in other parts of the country. He also managed our Peoria, Ill., office for six years. He joined Baird as a financial advisor in 1994.
John’s career began more than 30 years ago, as a financial advisor in E.F. Hutton & Co.’s Peoria, Ill., office. He was in production for approximately 20 years and served as Branch Manager of the Peoria office for 17 years. He has a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from St. Ambrose University.
Matthew S. Curley, Regional Director

Matthew S. Curley
Matt Curley is a Regional Director for Baird’s Private Wealth Management business. He oversees branches in Baird’s Midwest Region.
Before joining Baird, Matt was a First Vice President and Financial Advisor at Smith Barney for 13 years. Prior to Smith Barney, he began his career at Baird as a Financial Advisor in the Winnetka, Ill., branch. As an advisor for 17 years, Matt focused on investment management consulting for high-net-worth clients and institutions.
Matt earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance from the University of Iowa.
Erik Dahlberg, Regional Director

Erik Dahlberg is a Regional Director for Baird’s Private Wealth Management business, having joined the firm in 1987. He oversees branches in Baird’s Southern Wisconsin Region. He also manages Baird’s largest wealth management office in Milwaukee, Wis. Erik began his career with Baird as a Financial Advisor in the Janesville, Wis., office, taking over as Branch Manager in 1993. He has continued to work with his clients, helping them reach their financial goals. Erik is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Management with an emphasis on Finance.
William T. Johnson, Regional Director

William T. Johnson
Bill Johnson is a Regional Director for Baird’s Private Wealth Management business. He oversees branches in Baird’s Eastern Region.
In 2009, Bill joined Baird to serve as branch manager of its Lynchburg, Va., office. He also served as a financial advisor, working with clients to help them reach their financial goals. Prior to Baird, Bill was a complex manager, branch manager and financial advisor with Legg Mason (now Morgan Stanley Smith Barney). He also worked a financial advisor with Wheat First Securities and Anderson Strudwick/Merrill Lynch.
Bill is a graduate of the University of Georgia where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Finance, specializing in Investment Management.
Jarrett Z. Kovics, Regional Director

Jarrett Z. Kovics
Jarrett Kovics is a Regional Director for Baird’s Private Wealth Management business. He oversees branches in Baird’s Western Region.
In 2010, Jarrett joined Baird to serve as branch manager of its Dallas wealth management office. He was later promoted to Director of the Texas Market for Baird’s Private Wealth Management group.
Jarrett started his career as a financial advisor at Morgan Stanley before moving to Citi Smith Barney. At Smith Barney, he held a variety of roles, including Assistant Branch Manager of the Private Client/Institutional Headquarters office in New York and Complex Manager of the Global Wealth Management offices in Hawaii.
Jarrett is a graduate of Lafayette College where he earned a bachelor’s degree in history.
Steven W. Stroker, Regional Director

Steven W. Stroker
Prior to joining Baird in 2011, Steve was a complex manager at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, overseeing more than 220 financial advisors in 10 branch offices. His career in the financial service industry spans nearly 30 years, all with Smith Barney where he started as a financial consultant in 1983 and went on to hold a variety of management roles including regional director of Smith Barney’s North Central region.
Steve Stroker is a Regional Director of Baird’s Private Wealth Management business. He oversees branches in Baird’s Rocky Central Region.
Steve earned a bachelor’s degree in finance and economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
Kimberly P. Thekan, Director of Advisor Talent Strategiesicon: toggle
Kimberly P. Thekan
Kimberly is Director of Advisor Talent Strategies. She and her team recruit and transition, both experienced Financial Advisors and those new to the business for our Financial Advisor Training Program. In 2015, she assumed responsibility for the design and adoption of our Teams and Succession Programs, aimed at fostering smooth and effective partnerships and transitions among advisors.
Kimberly joined Baird in 2008 as PWM’s Human Capital Business Partner before she was promoted onto the Sales Management team to lead our Talent Acquisition & Integration efforts in 2011.
With over 20 years of experience, Kimberly began her career as an Auditor with Arthur Andersen and later transitioned into Human Capital. She has contributed to team and organizational success at Arthur Andersen, Grant Thornton, and as the Director of Human Resources for Stark Investments.
Kimberly earned her Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She achieved the Senior Professional of Human Resources (SPHR) designation in 2008.
