More than 1,300 associates with international financial services firm Baird and their family members donated a collective 3,700 volunteer hours May 14-19 to help approximately 100 non-profit organizations as part of the firm’s “Baird Gives Back Week.” The firmwide initiative, which was launched three years ago, has since been expanded to include nearly 50 Baird offices in London, Shanghai, Baltimore, Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Salt Lake City, San Francisco, and the Twin Cities. Associates across the firm helped with projects such as preparing and serving food, tutoring and mentoring students, working with seniors, building homes, cleaning up parks, performing indoor/outdoor maintenance, and assisting with event coordination.
Organized by the Baird Gives Back Associate Resource Group, which consists of associates who share a passion for volunteering, the week-long event is an extension of Baird’s commitment to the communities in which its associates live and work
, which is core to the firm’s culture. This caring commitment is a tradition built through the efforts of the firm, Baird Foundation
and the community involvement of Baird associates
. In 2012, associates received two paid days off to perform volunteer service through the “Baird Cares” program.
“When our communities do well, we do well, both as a business and as individuals seeking balance in our work and personal lives,” said Paul E. Purcell
, Baird Chairman, President & CEO. “It is very inspiring that so many of our associates across the firm chose to participate in Baird Gives Back Week, an annual event that celebrates our firm’s long-standing tradition of giving back to the communities in which we live and work, as well as our associates who are passionate about making a difference.”
“Our associates have embraced ‘Baird Gives Back Week’ wholeheartedly – as demonstrated by the initiative’s phenomenal growth in just three years,” said Julie Kuesel, Human Capital Project Manager and co-chair of the Baird Gives Back Associate Resource Group. “The event, which aims to make it easy and fun for all associates to pitch in and show their support for local non-profit organizations, is truly a reflection of what sets Baird apart. We are inspired by their commitment to making their communities better.”
