Driving Change With Tomorrow’s Leaders
Every student – no matter their address, background or circumstances – deserves access to a quality education. In that spirit, Baird is proud to support a range of educational causes and organizations, including All-In Milwaukee, a unique organization that currently supports more than 400 students working to complete their college education.
The college completion program provides financial aid, advising, program and career support to high-potential, limited-income, diverse Milwaukee students. Each student is paired with esteemed community leaders that offer sponsorship and mentoring relationships for the scholars. These efforts provide opportunities for the students to complete college with minimal debt, build meaningful careers and transform the Milwaukee community. All-In Milwaukee recently announced plans for major growth, expanding its efforts to support 1,000 students.
All-Milwaukee was also a recipient of the 2022 Paul Purcell “Kids Win!” Annual Baird Education Grants. Established in 2020 in memory of former Baird chairman & CEO Paul Purcell, the Paul Purcell “Kids Win!” Annual Baird Education Grants support qualified nonprofit educational organizations that share Paul’s passion for education and belief that all kids have access to a quality education.
Mary Ellen Stanek, President of Baird Funds and Co-Chief Investment Officer of Baird Advisors, serves on the organization’s board. She recently reflected on the program’s impact in BizTimes Milwaukee:
This program is a win-win-win: A win for the All-In Milwaukee scholars and their families. A win for employers who get connected to talented, diverse employees. And a win for the Milwaukee community, which benefits greatly from a college educated workforce. We are exceeding even our own high expectations over the first five years, but we need to get more kids into the program. That means adding more donors and more employers to help us build the program and give more deserving young people this opportunity.
Baird Advisors partners with All-In Milwaukee and other programs offering opportunities for underrepresented students in its recruiting efforts. The team emphasizes the importance of serving the youth in the community and building a pipeline of diverse talent within its business. As of today, 20% of Baird Advisors associates started in an intern role at Baird.
