Baird is pleased to announce our inaugural women’s internship program, Ascend to Global Investment Banking, which will launch this summer. Upon completing their undergraduate sophomore year, ten women will join Baird’s Investment Banking teams across our Chicago, Milwaukee and New York offices for this 10-week program.

In addition to gaining hands-on experience in investment banking, Ascend interns will also participate in weekly sessions on professional development and investment banking fundamentals, including modeling, valuations and other topics.

We are thrilled to welcome these talented women to the Ascend program this summer. Baird is committed to building diverse teams, with unique backgrounds, perspectives and experiences, and we couldn’t be more excited to rollout this women-focused initiative in the coming months.

Stacy Richter, Head of GIB Recruiting

Baird’s retention of women in investment banking exceeds our averages, but the number of qualified female applicants for investment banking roles is still too low. Through initiatives such as Ascend, high-potential candidates will benefit from a hands-on, in-depth introduction to investment banking. Demystifying and unpacking what a career in investment banking looks like will allow us to increase the number of talented females choosing investment banking at Baird.

Maria Watts, Co-Head of Global Consumer Investment Banking

Baird is committed to purpose-driven diversity, and a greater gender-balance. We know from firsthand experience having a diverse team, including women, fosters deeper dialogue and results in more innovative thinking on behalf of our clients. As leaders, we seek to be a workplace of choice for talented women. Through Ascend, we hope to engage and inspire future generations of women in banking.”

Anne-Marie Peterson, Head of Debt Capital Advisory
