Virtual sessions scheduled Nov. 4-6, aim to support local veterans in career pursuits

MILWAUKEE, Oct. 20, 2020
–  Members of Baird’s PATRIOT Associate Resource Group and Kohl’s Veterans Business Resource Group (BRG) are partnering to host a virtual career forum for veterans Nov. 4-6, 2020. Associates from Baird and Kohl’s will provide educational sessions on veteran benefits, personal finance, networking, social media tips and strategies for translating military experience into resume writing and interviews. Registration is now live here.

The closing event will feature a presentation with Mark Concannon, an Emmy Award-winning journalist and author of Mettle & Honor: Wisconsin Stories from the Battlefield, who will share stories of Wisconsin veterans.

“In honor of Veterans Day, we are proud to offer this opportunity to assist veterans with career planning,” said Alex Schneble, Co-Chair of Baird’s PATRIOT Associate Resource Group. “Our goal is to leverage the skills Baird and Kohl’s collectively hold to offer veterans and their family members assistance to successfully transition into the civilian workforce or further their existing civilian career.”

“On behalf of Kohl’s Veterans BRG, we know the value that military experience brings to business positions in companies like Kohl’s, and we are honored to co-host this event to provide helpful career resources to veterans and their families,” said Marc Chini, Kohl’s chief people officer. “We are proud to honor Veterans Day through our associates’ connection and contribution to our community through these important volunteer efforts.”

Baird’s PATRIOT Associate Resource Group supports members of the U.S. military, veterans and their families. A focus for this group is recruiting and retaining veterans at Baird. In honor of Veterans Day, PATRIOT hosts a Veteran Career Forum each year to provide opportunities for networking, social media branding, resume writing and interview coaching. Baird has been named a Military Friendly Employer for 2020 and 2021 and was also recognized by the Wisconsin Veterans Chamber of Commerce as the 2019 Veteran Employer of the Year and in 2018 Baird’s PATRIOT was recognized as the Veteran Resource Group of the year.

Kohl’s and its Veterans BRG are proud to support active and former military personnel, veterans and their families. In support of recruiting and retaining a diverse workforce, Kohl’s actively recruits military bases and partners with veteran service organizations to help connect service members and their spouses to careers within our organization. In addition, in 2019, Kohl’s introduced Military Mondays, which was strongly advocated by members of our Veterans BRG and offers a 15% discount for active and former military personnel, veterans and their families every Monday, all year long.
