Joel is the Co-Head of Baird's Industrial Group and his transaction activity is focused primarily on the Industrial Technology sector. He is also a member of Baird's Fairness Opinion Committee. Joel provides mergers and acquisition and other financial advisory services to clients in a variety of industrial technology verticals, including Test & Measurement Instrumentation and Sensors, Automation Solutions and Testing/Tech-enabled services and software.

Before joining Baird in 1994, Joel was a member of the Kidder, Peabody & Co. Investment Banking Group. He received his MBA with high honors from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business, and holds a BS in Applied Mathematics and Economics from Brown University.

Joe is Co-Head of Baird's Global Industrial Group and has worked in investment banking at Baird for 20 years. Joe has deep experience in public and private company equity, debt and M&A transactions and strategic advisory assignments within the global industrial sector. Joe’s sub-sector expertise includes: process and flow control, capital equipment, energy equipment and other related markets. Joe manages key client relationships in North America, Europe and Asia, and his experience includes advising on numerous cross-border transactions. Prior to joining Baird, Joe was an accountant at Deloitte and Touche, LLP, where he provided audit and advisory services. He received an MBA, with honors, from the J.L. Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and a BS degree in Accounting from Marquette University. Joe is very active in the community, including current and past involvement at Marquette University High School, St. Anthony Parish, The Parenting Network, the United Way and the Kettle Moraine School District.

Justin is a Managing Director in Baird's Industrial Group and has coverage responsibility for the global packaging industry. Justin’s investment banking experience covers a range of products, including mergers and acquisitions, equity capital markets, high yield debt and leveraged lending. Justin has advised on more than 75 transactions involving a variety of publicly traded, sponsor-owned and privately owned companies within a number of different industries, including more than 40 transactions totaling over $10 billion in transaction value in the packaging sector.

Prior to joining Baird in 2003, Justin was with Deutsche Bank Securities for nearly five years where he worked on numerous M&A and financing transactions primarily in the industrial sector. He received his MBA degree from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business and graduated with a BA degree in Economics from Haverford College.

Alex Ballantine is a Director in Baird’s Global Industrial Group and has coverage responsibility for Baird’s activities in the packaging and specialty materials sectors in Europe, as well as broader coverage of the industrial technology sector.  Alex is a dual United States and British national that has spent his entire professional career in investment banking in London. In his career, Alex has worked on a diverse range of transactions spanning public and private mergers and acquisitions, equity capital markets and other strategic advisory assignments for both private equity and corporate clients. Prior to joining Baird, Alex worked for both Hawkpoint Limited and ING Bank in London and has a Bachelor of Science from Cornell University in the United States.

Mike Barina is a Director in Baird’s Global Industrial Investment Banking Group in Milwaukee. During his time in investment banking, Mr. Barina has completed over 30 mergers and acquisitions and corporate financing transactions across the industrial landscape. Prior to joining Baird, Mike was a Vice President in the M&A Group at J.P. Morgan in New York, where he focused on executing M&A transactions for clients in the industrial sector. Prior to his time in investment banking, Mike was a management consultant in Chicago. Mike received an M.B.A. from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management and a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Prior to joining Baird, Tom was with a middle market private equity firm focused on industrial businesses and began his career with PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP. Tom received his M.B.A. from Indiana University's Kelley School of Business with high honors and a B.S. in business from the same institution with Beta Gamma Sigma honors.

Chris Cooper joined Baird’s Global Industrial Investment Banking group in 2004 and is responsible for Baird’s building and infrastructure products practice. While at Baird, he has completed over 40 M&A transactions and over 30 financing transactions for a broad range of publicly traded, sponsor-owned and family-owned companies in a variety of industries. Prior to joining Baird, he was in investment banking at A.G. Edwards & Sons, Inc., where he provided analytical support on transactions primarily in the Energy sector. Chris received his MBA, with honors, from the University of Chicago. Prior to attending graduate school, he worked in various capacities at ABN Amro and LaSalle Bank. He received his BBA from the University of Notre Dame.

Julien rejoined Baird in 2015 from Harris Williams where he was a Managing Director in the firm’s London office. Julien established his investment banking career at Baird in London, joining as an Associate in 1999 and later working from Baird’s Chicago office for three years before returning to the London office in 2005. He has a BA in Accounting and Economics from Tel Aviv University and an MBA from Cass Business School, London.

Jon Fitzsimmons joined Baird in 2004 and currently serves as a Director with Baird’s industrial investment banking group in Milwaukee. Jon has a wide range of experience in working with private equity firms and multi-national industrial companies on sell-side, buy-side and financing transactions. He also completed a two-year secondment with Baird’s international M&A group in London, where he worked on transactions in England, Germany, Italy and the Netherlands. Jon received a B.B.A. in Finance from the University of Wisconsin, and an M.B.A. from the MIT Sloan School of Management, where he was a Baird Scholar.

Vinay is a Managing Director in Baird's Financial Sponsor Group, focusing on managing relationships with the European sponsor community, as well as a member of Baird's Global Industrial Investment Banking Team. Vinay joined Baird in 2011, bringing extensive experience in acquisitions, disposals and capital raisings for both private equity and public companies across the Consumer, Services, Healthcare and Industrials sectors.

Prior to joining Baird, Vinay spent fourteen years at Hawkpoint, Goldman Sachs and Deutsche Bank. Vinay has a first class degree from Imperial College in London and is a qualified Chartered Accountant.

Steve is a Managing Director in Baird’s Global Investment Banking practice and joined Baird in 2000.  Over his career, Steve has advised on a variety of mergers and acquisitions and financings, for public, private equity and family owned businesses serving most manufacturing sectors of the global economy.  In particular, Steve has completed more than 40 transactions totaling more than $8.5 billion in the global filtration industry.  Before joining Baird, Steve was a Vice President at Tucker Anthony.  Prior to graduate business school, he provided corporate tax and other advisory services for Price Waterhouse (now PriceWaterhouseCoopers).  Steve earned an MBA with distinction from the University of Michigan Business School and graduated with a BA in English Language and Literature from the University of Virginia.  He also currently serves on the board of trustees of the University School of Milwaukee and board of directors of Deltrol Corporation.

Prior to joining Baird's International M&A team, Dr. Sven Harmsen spent several years with Drueker & Co./Leonardo & Co. in their German M&A team. He worked on several international buy-, sell-side and carve-out transactions and gained experience across a wide range of industries, working for blue-chip private equity and corporate clients. Dr. Harmsen graduated with a Diploma in Industrial Engineering and Management from Technical University of Berlin, a Master's Degree in Management Studies from Carleton University, Ottawa, Canada and completed his Doctorate degree at Humboldt University, Berlin.

Justin Holsen is a Managing Director in Baird’s Equity Capital Markets group, responsible for origination and execution of equity transactions in the Industrial and Energy sectors. Prior to joining Equity Capital Markets, Justin was an Institutional Equity Salesman responsible for lead sales coverage for several of Baird’s Institutional clients located on the West Coast. Justin also held various leadership roles across all of Baird’s Institutional Equity & Research group, focused on driving revenue growth and market share gains with key trading partners.

Prior to joining the Institutional Equity & Research group in 2006, Justin spent 3 years in Baird’s Institutional Fixed Income Capital Markets group, most recently as a Fixed Income Salesman, covering accounts across the U.S. Justin earned an B.S in Finance from Marquette University, where he played Division I Tennis and was team captain his junior and senior years.

Jason Kliewer joined Baird in 1998, and is a member of the Distribution team within Baird’s Global Industrial Investment Banking Group. Baird has completed over 100 M&A advisory and fundraising transactions for distribution clients, including public companies, privately held businesses and private equity sponsors. Jason has extensive M&A and capital markets experience working with distribution clients on both sides of the Atlantic. Jason was a founder member of Baird’s M&A team in Europe and was based in Baird’s London office for five years. Jason received an MBA from the University of Cambridge, where he was a Gates Cambridge Scholar, and graduated with a BS degree in Finance, with the highest honors, from the University of Florida.

Prior to joining Baird, he was a partner in the securities and mergers and acquisitions practice of the law firm of Foley & Lardner. He is a member of the State Bar of Florida, and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Tom graduated, magna cum laude, from Notre Dame Law School, and received a BBA degree with a concentration in Accounting, cum laude, from the University of Notre Dame. He began his career in the Chicago office of Ernst & Whinney.

Mike is a senior member of Baird’s Global Industrial Group and its M&A Fairness Opinion Committee. Since joining Baird in 2003, he has participated in over 65 completed mergers and acquisitions and corporate financing transactions. Mr. Lindemann has extensive experience leading public and private company transactions within a broad range of industrial sectors. During 2007, Mike served in Baird’s London and Frankfurt offices as a member of Baird’s International M&A team. Mike graduated from Bates College with a B.A. in Economics and received his M.B.A., with distinction, from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth where he was an Edward Tuck Scholar. Mike is very active in the community, serving on the Board of Directors of the Milwaukee Winter Club and on the Board of Directors and as Treasurer of the Pettit National Ice Center.

Chris joined Baird in May 2002. He is Head of Baird's Global Mergers & Acquisitions activities and a member of the firm's Investment Banking Management Committee, as well as the M&A Fairness Opinion Committee. Chris has 27 years of investment banking experience. Prior to joining Baird, he was a Managing Director in the Mergers & Acquisitions Group at Credit Suisse First Boston (CSFB), which he joined as part of CSFB's November 2000 acquisition of Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette (DLJ). At DLJ, Chris was a Managing Director in DLJ’s Mergers & Acquisitions Group. Chris received his MBA from the University of Chicago and his BS degree from Babson College. He is a member of The Economic Club of Chicago and a member of the Board of Overseers at Babson College.

Tom Murphy is a Managing Director in Baird’s Global Industrial Investment Banking team where he leads the group’s coverage of Aerospace, Defense and Government Services sectors. Tom joined Baird in 2017 from Stifel Nicolaus’ where he was a Managing Director in the firm’s Aerospace, Defense and Government Services (ADGS) Investment Banking practice. In this role, Murphy sourced and led transactions across the ADGS and Specialty Industrials sectors in the US, Europe, India and Israel. Earlier in his career, Murphy worked in the Industrials investment banking practice of Friedman, Billings & Ramsey. He started his career at PricewaterhouseCoopers Securities. He graduated from Georgetown University with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.

She is also a Certified Public Accountant.

Before joining Baird, he was a Partner at Vector Securities International. Earlier, he was a Senior Vice President in the Investment Banking group at Kidder, Peabody & Co. in Chicago. He received an MBA with distinction from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University and his JD cum laude from Northwestern’s School of Law. He earned his undergraduate degree with high honors from the University of Notre Dame.

Nicholas qualified as a chartered accountant with Peat Marwick in South Africa. He spent 10 years at Barings in domestic and international corporate finance (North America and South Africa) and capital markets. Nicholas joined Baird in 1996, became a Director in 1998, a Managing Director in 2003 and co-head of European Investment Banking in 2004.

He has wide experience in company sales and acquisitions, public offers, bid defenses and capital raisings. Nicholas focuses on Industrial and Consumer mergers and acquisitions, working with clients in both North America and Europe.

He is also a Certified Management Accountant.
