Baird’s financial strength and our structure as a privately held, independent firm, owned by employees, enable us to maintain our steadfast client focus. In the current challenging environment, our unique position of strength is particularly important.
  • Following four consecutive years of record revenues and operating income, we expect revenues to be down slightly in 2008, but we will again be very profitable.
  • Baird is well capitalized, with excess net capital that is more than 33 times the requirement, as of August 31, 2008.
  • Baird is conservatively leveraged. Our leverage is less than 2 to 1, which is low compared to most firms our size and much lower than the major Wall Street firms, some of which were leveraged more than 30 to 1.
  • We have five complementary businesses, balancing our sources of revenue and broadening our capabilities for clients.
  • Our clients are protected by the broadest excess Securities Investor Protection Corporation (SIPC) coverage available.
