With today's global economy, shifting tax laws and low interest rates, managing wealth requires far more than simply managing investments. It demands straight talk and sophisticated answers about complex issues that may span generations. That's why a wealth management partnership with Baird begins with a detailed conversation about individual priorities for current and retirement income, charitable giving, and estate and wealth transfer. It deepens through advice that is pertinent and thoughtful. Only then, after a client makes many uniquely personal decisions, does our team approach to wealth management arrive at a holistic solution that truly reflects the objectives and character of the individual client or family.

Developing comprehensive answers to the life-cycle and market-cycle questions asked by most of the affluent clients Baird serves takes many types of expertise. More than half of Baird Financial Advisors work on teams to broaden the skills they can offer. All are supported by a readily accessible group of 65 highly skilled, in-house specialists in areas such as investment research, tax and estate planning, and risk-management strategies, as well as services for corporate executives and business owners.

An expert collaboration

The combination of our Financial Advisors' broad knowledge of their clients' needs and our specialists' deep expertise on specific issues enables Baird to provide the trusted, objective solutions that are essential to managing multigenerational family wealth. We continue to invest in the in-house skills needed to assess the opportunities and risks inherent in the growing variety of complex investments. While our Financial Advisors have an average of 19 years in the financial services industry, they are continually enhancing their skills. More than 35% hold professional designations in industry specialties and three-quarters of our Client Relationship Assistants hold securities licenses that enable them to provide additional services. During 2012, we graduated Baird's first class from the advanced Certified Private Wealth Advisor® program held in conjunction with the University of Chicago.

Over the past five years, most of the Financial Advisors and Branch Managers we welcomed to Baird were industry veterans. Baird has become a firm of choice for professionals who value our partnership culture, financial independence and employee ownership, as well as our robust technology and infrastructure that support their relationships with clients. We further expanded Baird's national footprint during 2012 with our second office in Sarasota, Florida, and an office in Portland, Maine.
