Giving back to our communities

Giving back to our communities
Gifts made by Baird Foundation have increased 55% over the past five years. Many of these gifts are granted in support of requests made by Baird associates who have a special connection to an organization or cause.

Our commitment to the communities where we work and live mirrors the caring, service and teamwork that Baird associates share at work. We encourage that dedication throughout the year with our Baird Cares program, which offers paid time off for volunteer activities. Similarly, Baird Gives Back Week creates companywide volunteer activities where associates donate thousands of hours to benefit local communities. This important initiative has grown to 55 offices and more than 1,250 volunteers across the United States and in Europe and Asia. Among the many projects completed during the week, associates helped the homeless, built homes for families in need, cleaned parks and refurbished educational facilities. The project is organized by the Baird Gives Back Associate Resource Group, one of five such groups at Baird. These groups - focused on women's issues, diversity, the LGBT community, the environment and community involvement - provide additional opportunities for associates to develop leadership skills while advancing initiatives they are passionate about.

Giving generously

In addition to their volunteer activities, Baird associates once again reached deeply into their own pockets during 2013 to assist those in need. For the fourth consecutive year, Baird donations to the United Way of Greater Milwaukee surpassed the $1 million mark. Donations from more than 95% of associates, combined with charitable gift matching and Baird Foundation gifts, helped set new United Way campaign records in our Chicago and Milwaukee offices. Several other offices also had very successful campaigns.

Baird Foundation

Baird Foundation's mission is to reinforce and energize our company's legacy of community involvement. Over the past five years, annual Baird Foundation grants have grown by 55%, reaching nearly $3 million during 2013.

Many of our associates donate generously to a wide variety of deserving organizations in their communities. We encourage these charitable efforts with thousands of matching gifts each year. In addition, numerous Baird Foundation grants are given to organizations where Baird associates are actively involved as volunteers and in leadership roles. The Foundation also makes contributions across the country in the areas of education, health and human services, the arts and diversity.
