Baird Research Recognized By Wall Street Journal, StarMine

Equity Research analysts at Baird were again recognized among the best in the United States by The Wall Street Journal and StarMine in recently published reports. Baird research analysts received five “Best on the Street” awards in The Wall Street Journal’s annual survey released May 26. In addition, ten Baird analysts received awards in the Eighth Annual StarMine awards, published in the Financial Times newspaper on May 14.
“These prestigious recognitions reflect Baird’s focus on fundamental research and underscore the emphasis we place on quality and objectivity,” said Bob Venable, Baird’s Director of Research.
“Best on the Street”
The Wall Street Journal “Best on the Street” analysts survey recognizes the top five analysts in 44 industry sectors, based on their stock-picking skill during 2008. Analysts were selected based on the estimated return an investor would have achieved by following the analyst’s recommendations.
Baird Research Analysts Rick Eastman and Mike Schneider ranked No. 3 and No. 5, respectively, of 42 analysts in the Electronic & Electrical Equipment sector. It is Eastman’s sixth time on the list and Schneider’s fourth. Also making the list for the fourth time is analyst David Leiker, who ranked No.3 of 15 analysts in the Autos & Auto Parts Sector. Analyst Jayson Noland, in his first appearance on the list, ranked No. 5 of 33 analysts in the Computers & Office Equipment sector.
Analyst Whit Mayo, who joined Baird last summer, also made this year’s list under his previous firm. He ranked No. 5 out of 65 analysts in the Health Care Providers sector.
StarMine honors top analysts
Ten Baird analysts received awards from StarMine, the most recognized firm in the industry for tracking earnings accuracy and stock picking results. The awards recognize the top 10 stock pickers and earnings estimators overall, top three stock pickers in 61 industries and the top three earnings estimators in 63 industries, based on an analysis of 2008 data.

- David Parker -- Multi-Utilities Industry
- David Manthey -- Trading Companies & Distributors Industry
Recognized among the top three in their industries for their accuracy in estimating earnings were:
- Jon Langenfeld -- Air Freight & Logistics Industry
- David Leiker -- Auto Components Industry
- Peter Lisnic -- Building Products Industry
- Michael Schneider -- Machinery Industry
- Mark Marcon -- Professional Services Industry
- William Power -- Wireless Telecommunication Services Industry
Analyst Ghansham Panjabi, who recently joined Baird, was recognized among the top three stock pickers and earnings estimators in the Containers & Packaging industry for his work at his previous firm.
Baird has been represented in the StarMine awards since their inception in 2001.
