Community Involvement

Community Involvement Baird is a firm made up of people who believe deeply in giving back in meaningful ways to the communities where we live and work.

Our firm has embraced a strong tradition of leadership in supporting philanthropic programs through:
  • Workplace giving programs
  • Individual associate donations and volunteer efforts
  • Support from the Baird Foundation
For example, more than 94% of employees in Baird’s Milwaukee headquarters support both the United Way and the United Performing Arts Fund.

Baird is proud of the way our associates have given generously of their time, talents, energy and money at virtually every opportunity. And we are committed to providing them with the opportunities and resources to continue to do so.

In addition to supporting many educational, artistic and philanthropic programs directly, the Baird Foundation’s Charitable Gift Matching Program provides matching contributions to charities our employees support.

Additionally, as part of our Baird Cares program, employees are encouraged to take a paid day of leave from work to volunteer in their communities.

Following are reflections from several employees who have enjoyed opportunities to make a meaningful difference through Baird:

“It’s a great experience. It gets the students excited about learning and thinking about the longer-term benefits of education.”
-
Howard, a Vice President of Investment Banking, who helped organize involvement of Baird employees in the Chicago Working in the Schools (WITS) program.

“One of the nice things—for the last few years, we’ve had wish kids there. To talk to these kids and find out what they go through, it makes (the work) really rewarding.”
- Brian, Associate General Counsel, who co-chairs the Make-a-Wish Foundation’s annual Walk & Run For Wishes in Milwaukee and, for the past several years, has organized a team of Baird participants.

“We had a great turnout. Collectively, as a branch, we really believe you have to give back to the communities where you live and work.”
- Brian, Cleveland Branch Manager, whose office volunteered with family and friends to clean up Camp Cheerful, a division of the Achievement Centers for Children, which specializes in therapy, autism programs and recreation for special needs children.

“I couldn’t believe the huge response from Baird.”
-
Ed, Client Services Representative, whose e-mail to fellow Baird employees raised more than $1,300 in pledges for his ride with the 2007 Tour de Cure, a Milwaukee , a cycling event benefiting the American Diabetes Association.
